The last Run Jin 2-part episode I GOTTA REC is this one in which Jin kidnaps Hobi to go on an unknown adventure. Keep in mind that, not only does Jin NOT know what they're going to do until they reach their destination, but also this was filmed a day AFTER Hobi was officially discharged from the military.

As someone for whom zombies are a HARD squick, I will own up to the fact that I had to watch this episode in the daytime...and I was still quite 😨😨😨 both times I've watched it.

It was a nicely productive day on Thursday.

Started with an early trip to the tip to get rid of a huge bag of garden waste and a couple of bulky but broken electrical items, so it was good to do that bit of decluttering. Plus, the tip shop was closed for a delivery so no chance of buying more stuff to fill those new gaps*g*

From there we called in to see my in laws for a bit, then it was onto the hospital as James had a physio appointment. Unfortunately, his appointment was for 11am, which is a horrible time in terms of parking, and we had to circle the whole site for nearly 30 minutes before a lovely lady pointed to a free space in one of the car parks we'd already gone through three times.

Each time he goes to physio, I expect James to be discharged, but nope again. While his elbow break has healed beautifully, he's lost muscle in his shoulder and still can't bring his hand to his mouth without propping his arm on a surface, or bringing his mouth down to his hand. So, more exercises to do at home, and he's back in a month, and will apparently need to keep going until that muscle is back.

Left the hospital and headed into town as I had an eye exam booked for 12:30. I only wear my glasses when reading books, but had noticed recently things were getting a bit fuzzier reading without them, so figured I should go for a check-up.

Turns out my right eye has got worse, but the other is still the same. So, new reading glasses for me. But what you don't want while sitting with the optometrist is for her to say, 'well, this is rare and don't worry, but….' Turns out I have a very narrow drainage channel around the iris of my right eye, while increases the risk of Angle closure glaucoma. Everything is fine pressure wise right now, but she gave me a leaflet about symptoms, saying if I get any of those to go straight to the eye infirmary, and I'm now on annual eye checks, which I guess is a good thing.

Rosie finally sent the change of day survey, but along with those came some suggestions to express interest in other options, which sound great if they happen. Included in that, actual cooking demos, well-being walks and various other exercise options. I ticked an interest in all except for badminton, which just sounds like a disaster in the making for me if I tried it.

Then she emailed again yesterday to say the class Monday coming is also cancelled as she's off on annual leave. Which is a shame after also being cancelled this last Monday. But, it can't be helped and as she's getting married later this year, I suspect this is the time Rosie's booked for her hen do.

Yesterday was forecast for heavy rain showers all day, so we decided to go to the cinema. Saw The Salt Path on a 11am morning showing, and really enjoyed it. Left Odeon and went to Subway for dinner, then checked the cinema listings again and saw a screening of Karate Kid -- Legends, was about to start, so went to see that too. The film hasn't been getting good reviews, but I actually liked it, even more so as a load of young teen boys were watching too, and they all started applauding at the end, which made me smile. I also saw the full trailer for the new Downton Abbey film, and I'm looking forward to seeing that later in the year.

Today we've driven to a jumble sale as Cat Lady Kay from Consett Cats had a fund-raising table there, and we wanted to support her. I only bought a book, but left a donation, so it was worth the drive.

This afternoon I intend to catch up here, and feed the tomato plants. Then, more binge-watching of Mobland later. What a show that is, it's got me gripped.

NGL, these are two episodes I've watched several times. Not only cuz they give me so much joy and LOLs, but also because Jin is at his "worst" in terms of scheming, competitiveness, and charm. Finally, and most importantly, both episodes feature Jin happily getting manhandled by men. This is legit one of the things that clearly bring him joy. IJS.

Can Jin Keep His Cool?

As far as his public persona, Jin is mostly known for not losing his temper unless it's an extreme situation. He WILL be loud and in-your-face in smaller outbursts, but those moments are presented in a comedic light. With him sorta stepping into a kinda funny brat?

Anyways, this episode dares Jin to keep his heartbeat at a steady rate no matter what. Every challenge gets wilder and wilder. And Mimiminu, a YouTuber, is there to play the devilish MC who tries to push Jin's buttons as hard as he can.

I've actual!cried from laughing so hard every time I've sat down to watch this episode.

Will Park Hyungsik Fall For Jin>

NGL, this episode had me SCREECHING from the second I watched the teaser. For starters, Park Hyungsik is part of Taehyung's Inner Circle (generally known as the Wooga Squad.) AND, after watching In the SOOP: Friendication, I realized that Hyungsik tend to be game with any wild scheme. The other thing that had me full 😵 is that there hasn't been a ton of on-camera or off-camera interactions between the Wooga Squad members (which include Park Seojoon, Choi Wooshik, and Peakboy) and the rest of the BTS members. So this was, in many ways, a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to see how they'd interact.

It takes a little bit, but soon enough Hyungsik is embracing Jin's rebellious spirit. If there's one thing I love watching in variety shows is when ppl go WILD. And this episode DELIVERS.

There are other Run Jin episodes that have a sport theme, but these are my fave 3.

Tennis

An episode in which Jin teams up with actor and singer Lee Yikyung (one of his besties) to win several matches against...two professional tennis players who are also children. It goes off the rails (in the best way possible) super fast.

Gynmastics

Jin and TXT's Beomgyu take a quick lesson from an Olympian-level gymnast and then battle it out for the title of BEST (amateur) gymnast. Aside from the wild times (thanks to uber brat!Beomgyu, this is is an episode that shows how freaking strong AND flexible Jin actually IS.

Fencing

NGL, I love this one cuz Jin looks HELLA DREAMY from the second he steps in the frame. Aside from that, he demonstrates RIDIC HIGH reflexes every chance he gets.

Yup, this post title is ACCURATE.

In the second ep of Run Jin, he spends a day at his former middle school and basically hangs out, i.e. battles against a bunch of children. NGL, I've cried from laughing so hard while watching this one.

Then, in the following episode, he does a part-time stint at a PC bang cafe. His OJO at the 2:48 mark (as the PC bang clients literally run into the establishment) is super lulzy. Soon enough, though, Jin's competitive gamer streak bubbles up the surface (due to the mission he has to complete.)

One of BTS' most popular variety shows is called Run BTS. After airing 156 episodes, the show (which anyone can watch for free ninety-nine via this playlist on BTS' official YouTube channel) went on hiatus due to the start of Enlistment Era, i.e. Chapter 2.

Given how well he knows ARMYs, Jin decided to launch a spin-off version titled Run Jin. Across 36 episodes, Jin gets in all types of shenanigans. I'm not going to go thru every eps, just some of my faves.

Gonna start with "Squid Jin-Game"--a take on Squid Game. This time with no gore or death, but plenty of HELLA LULZY moments. The standout in these two episodes is Dongpyo, a 22-y.o. idol who was in X1 and Mirae. He's since gone solo. I love his dynamic with Jin.

Two weeks and change ago, Jin did a guest appearance at Red Velvet's Wendy radio show Youngstreet. Last year, they'd recorded and, later, performed (only once so far) "Heart on the Window."

FTR, I have to admit that I had never tuned into Wendy's show BUT, I had a fairly solid idea that it was gonna be worth checking out because she's got a vibrant personality. And I was 613% correct, heheh. Theirs is a playful, sibling-like dynamic. I watched this after the English subtitles became available; ended up XD within the first ten minutes or so.

Please note that advertisements and most of the music were removed due to licensing.

In the space of a few minutes I got an email from Rosie saying class was cancelled today. A message from Kayleigh saying she'd taken Bodhi to nursery, and it was actually closed for a teacher training day, and one from James saying he'd slipped in the toilets at work and banged his head.

So, now I have a free morning but am both expecting a request to Bodhisit, and for James saying he's coming home.

The slip in the toilet annoys me. The disabled toilet James uses also contains a shower the staff can use, and when people do so they never seem to mop the floor properly and leave it slippery, which is a disaster combination. It'll all officially get written up, but whoever decided to put an open shower in the disabled toilet is an idiot. It's not like it's a cubical either, it's literally a shower in the corner of the room surrounded by a curtain.

It was our wedding anniversary yesterday. We don't celebrate as such, but did go out for Sunday lunch to Prego and as always the food was delicious. Apart from that it was the usual grocery shopping and getting ready for the week. I was looking at some of our wedding photos that came up on my phone memories, and so much has changed since then, including the loss of mam, my FiL and nanna. I still laugh at nanna being in every photo, she planted herself in a comfy chair and wasn't about to move, no matter what family grouping was being arranged. But, she was late 90s then, so deserved that chair. I do miss her, she was one of a kind and such a wonderful woman and nanna.

Saturday we went back to Beamish and did the last part we've never walked before. What we didn't know before heading there was it was a big transport event, add that to it being a sunny, warm day and one of the last days of the school half-term holidays. Well, it made for a very busy Beamish. Thankfully, with it being such a big site people spread out and there were only crowds and queues around the main shops/cafes, so we bypassed those altogether. We did get to ride on the steam train, which was a 30-minute queue for a five-minute ride. But, it was fun, and not a hardship to wait.

Saturday evening was the season finale of Doctor Who and all I can say is, I wasn't happy. I watched all the Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith eps, then stopped watching until Ncuti Gatwa who reignited my DW love. So yeah, I didn't enjoy that episode at all, for many reasons.

And, there's the message from James to say he's been sent home. Nothing from Kayleigh yet, so one of them must be off today. Now, lets hope I haven't just jinxed myself.

So, June 1st is the start of FESTA, the two-week celebration that leads up to BTS' anniversary on June 13th. 2025 FESTA is gonna be SPECTACULAR NO MATTER WHAT because, by the time the anniversary date rolls around, SIX OUT OF THE 7 MEMBERS WILL HAVE DISCHARGED FROM THE MILITARY!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳(🥳)*

*Yoongi is getting discharged a week later.

Thus, I'm dedicating most (if not all) of this month's posts to all things BTS. 😛

Jin recently dropped ECHO, his second solo album. The title song is "Don't Say You Love Me", a soft Pop song abt heartbreak. I'm not super into the MV (it's fine), but I've deffo kept an eye out for any live performances. (And will soon enjoy watching many of said live performances as he's going on a short AND, FOR SURE INTERESTING tour at the end of this month!!!!)

Here's a 2-for-1 video that's got two live singing performances of "Don't Say You Love Me" and "Loser!" (his duet with YENA).

One thing everyone gotta know abt Jin is that he's v. v. CHAOTIC. And, oftentimes, he'll come up with things on impulse. To with this video that shows him promoting his new album...by driving a duck boat on the Han river. It's quite ridic from the start:

Yes, I did a post abt Kep1er two years ago.

Anyways, one thing I've noticed since "Shooting Star" is that the group has not only gained more confidence BUT that their songs continue to evolve in better music!

Trigger warning: A ton of visual f/x including lighting/flashing lights, image distortion, etc.

What an energetic song! I loved it from the second I heard it. The thing that made me go HUH is that this a Japanese single. 🤞🏾 that they bring this sound/energy to their next Korean tunes.

Apparently, I'm in a semi-nostalgic mood (aside from being a fan of everyone I've been posting abt.) Cuz here I am talking abt NMiXX who I last wrote abt last year.

Anyways, back in March, NMIXX dropped Fe304: Forward, the third EP of the Fe304 trilogy. I know there's some lore that builds and connects all three albums, but I legit have zero idea of what it all it.

The ONLY thing I know is that "Know About Me", the title track was FIRE!

Trigger Warning: This is a visual f/x heavy MV that might make give some folks motion sickness (the camera moves every which way.)

The Dance Practices

This one has a moving camera that left me feeling slightly queasy cuz of all the panning, zooming in/out, and close-ups. BUT it's a good way to show that the members are PERFORMING (since they're singing live.)

Here's another one that has a steady focus and is filmed from afar. Out of the two practices, this is my fave cuz it allows the viewer to appreciate the entire choreo.

This other song is from the album, but wasn't a pre-release? Unfortch, there's no actual MV, but it's my fave out of all the tracks. Hence its inclusion. Love, love, the piano and beat combo.

50-50 (either version) is one of those groups I know abt, but am mostly ehhh musicwise.

That was, however, until I listened to this song. It's got a pretty catchy beat and the members give it enough charm for me to rec it.

The MV, a Kpop take on The Truman Show, is fine.

And a bonus!dance practice

Earlier, I got a text from Rosie saying she's going to send out a survey about what people think of the weight management programme and what else we'd like her to include. But also, that she was thinking of changing the day of class, so it won't be on a Monday at 11am but instead on a Tues/Wed or Friday morning at 9:30. And, do not want. I like having class on a Monday, so I know my week has started. The survey hasn't come yet, but I really hope the majority don't want a Friday.

My MiL's visit went well, and we dropped her off home on Monday. Like I mentioned in my last post, she watched the Sunderland match with James -- they won, yay! on Saturday and on Sunday we went out for lunch at Prego, the restaurant we like at the seafront. We had a nice day, but then my MiL wasn't feeling well in the evening cut for minor medical stuff )

I watched the series finale of The Last of Us, and Read more... )

On [personal profile] misbegotten 's rec, I've been watching The Pitt, and man, what a show. I was so invested, and watched the last ep this afternoon. Talk about a gut punch and something wringing all emotion out of you. It's such an interesting format for a show, with each episode being an hour of the shift. I really think it works very well in terms of engaging the audience, and I'm really interested in how season two will work considering the format.

But yeah, a rec from me too if you like gritty medical shows with excellent writing and characters.
